‘Empowering Children to Succeed’

Not all children successfully manage the transition to school. Some children have difficulty coping at times during their primary years. Many suffer anxieties and challenges that stop them from integrating well, causing children to misjudge the social context and experience significant day to day stresses.

Standard school management procedures do not always work for these children, nor resolve the cause of their behaviours. Problems can become exacerbated and the child’s confusion, sense of isolation and despair increase, putting the child at great risk of failure.

Our Cheshire School provides a specialised 12 month Intervention Program to support children from prep through to grade six, who have demonstrated significant social, emotional and behavioural problems in their mainstream schools. In a supportive and caring environment, Cheshire helps children and families to identify the fundamental causes of a child’s issues and to overcome the disruptive behaviours that may have become part of everyday life.

Classes are limited to a maximum of eight students with a total maximum enrolment for the school of 16. Our teachers and Program Leader at Cheshire are highly skilled professionals with extensive training in both the specialist environment and mainstream schools.

The Cheshire Program develops self-esteem, resilience and coping strategies and by facilitating a change in behaviours allows children to successfully re-integrate into the mainstream school system, positively charged to cope with the challenges ahead.

All enquiries are welcome and should be directed to Cheshire’s Program Leader,
Sue McGregor, on 8562 5100.
